Hi!
I am an English major with a minor in Creative Writing: Poetry Track at Rutgers University in Newark, New Jersey. I was an early talker and language came easily to me, making me consistently the most advanced reader in my class. As a young girl, I preferred reading books over any other activity and I could usually be found tucked in a corner of the playground with Laura Ingalls Wilder’s Little House in the Big Woods in hand while the other children ran around. I would even read on my walk to and from school: I had memorized all of the cracks in the sidewalk and where the pavement was uneven so that I never once stumbled or fell. I suppose I knew the sidewalk as intimately as I knew the stories I consumed with a focus that was unwavering.
I was placed in the Academically Talented program during my elementary school years and took AP courses in high school. My AP English score of four meant that I was not required to take English Composition 101 or 102 when I went to university. I attended Douglass College, part of the greater Rutgers New Brunswick, New Jersey educational complex, having been awarded not one, but two scholarships based on academic merit.
I left Douglass early in my sophomore year as my undiagnosed ADD made completing my course work impossible. I bounced around a number of retail jobs when, at about age thirty, it dawned on me that language and composition had always brought me the greatest joy and that I wanted to work in publishing as a proofreader/ editor. I resumed my education at Rutgers Newark; I expect to graduate in May of 2027.
This blog is meant to be a portfolio of a diverse cross section of my work: mainly poetry, a few short stories, and academic compositions. It goes without saying that I hold the rights to anything and everything published within.
